Drive Connection and ROI: Mastering Client Communications

In this episode of “New Skool,” we’re talking about how to take your client communications to the next level and maximize output on everything you do.  

Client emails are the most common form of advisor communication, and can be the most effective if you do them right. The problem is that many advisor newsletters look the same: a market update, a financial planning blog, a team photo and a personal element like a book recommendation. There’s nothing inherently wrong with any individual piece of this approach, but these types of newsletters end up feeling impersonal and don’t really connect with anyone.  

So what should you do instead? First, be sure to send your emails from a person, not a brand. So rather than sending it from info@yourfirm.com, send it from someone’s actual email, like candice@yourfirm.com. Add a signature line along with a headshot.  

Next, make it high value by picking a single topic for each email and doing a deep dive on it. Be sure to choose topics your clients are interested in—another reason it’s so important to understand your ideal client profile. Also, be sure to offer a way to connect further for people who want it. Ask them to reply or give them a link to your calendar where they can schedule a call. 

Whatever you do with your emails, be sure to leverage the content across multiple channels so you can get the most out of it. Post the content on your blog, schedule snippets on your social accounts, post videos on your YouTube—make it work for you!
