If you’ve ever worked with us here at FiComm, then you know we’re passionate about bringing the “New Skool” marketing + PR mindset to the industry. The New Skool is for those advisors who understand what worked in the past isn’t necessarily what works now.
And let’s be clear right from the start: New Skool has nothing to do with age or years of experience. It’s all about finding alignment for yourself and your business by getting clear on why you do what you do, and who you do it for. This alignment allows you to experience fulfillment, clarity and success. It also allows you to stay relevant in the changing times.
Imagine if you were meeting with a new client and they asked you to send paperwork via email and you looked at them and said, “Email? Nah. That’s not going to catch on. We don’t do that here.”
Well, that would be silly, right? But that’s how your clients feel the about audio and video content you create and make available. It’s no longer a nice surprise to find out these methods of communication are offered by the businesses you interact with; it’s the new standard.
Which is exactly why we hosted our first-ever Advisor Podcast Awards in partnership with InvestmentNews. Through this initiative, we wanted to celebrate advisors who are leading the industry in how they connect with prospects and clients, inspire others to make their podcast ideas a reality, and have some fun along the way.
How the competition worked
For our inaugural Podcast Awards, we invited advisors from across the industry to submit either their own existing podcasts OR an idea for a podcast they’d like to launch – along with a brief audio clip of introducing the podcast theme and the ultimate vision for the show.
And then we simply selected our favorite clients as the winners. KIDDING! What happened next amazed us.
More than 55 advisors from all across the industry stepped up to the challenge! We were thrilled with the number of nominations and psyched to work overtime to immerse ourselves in all of the amazing submissions.
The Awards honored podcast excellence in three categories: “The Client Happy Podcast,” for approachable, client-centered podcasts; “Walking the Walk: Diversity” for podcasts demonstrating what diversity and inclusion really feels like; and “Pitch Your Podcast,” where advisors pitched their new podcast concepts that challenge the status quo.
We were fortunate to have the Awards judged by a panel of experts including Jeff Benjamin, Senior Columnist of InvestmentNews, Toussaint Bailey, Chief Executive Officer and Principal of Enso Wealth, Tina Powell, CEO, C-Suite Social Media, Dani Fava, Head of Strategic Development of Envestnet, and Candice Carlton, SVP Advisor Education at FiComm.
Award winners were announced during a special livestream event (replay available here) broadcasted across all our social channels and hosted by FiComm CEO, Meg Carpenter.
We congratulate all of our finalists and nominees. Thank you for your dedication to showing up authentically and vulnerably. Extra high fives for our category winners:
